Unveiling… my iMac
Finally! After the long, hard wait since the 9th of January, my iMac finally arrived! I was in an exam at the time but fortunately for me, there was someone in the house to accept the package.
Just a few minor points here - my exam was at 9am and I’m certainly not a morning person. I’d been up until 4am that morning, as I couldn’t sleep and I woke up at 6am. Me with two hours sleep after an exam never looks good. Also, I’m in a student house. I didn’t pick any of the furniture and I certainly did not pick those awful curtains. The photos were taken on my compact digital camera, Sony Cybershot DSC-T9 by one of my room mates, Daniel.
The Grand Unveiling
This is me with my new iMac 24″. I was excited, however I was told to pose like that for this picture - honest!
One plug - it reminds me of the Get A Mac advert for the iMac. It really is a simple computer. One plug and you’re ready to go. Gotta love that!
So there we have it; my lovely new computer. I’m very happy with it, the speed of it really puts my PowerBook G4 to shame. Everything seems so much more responsive, it really is an incredible machine. For those who didn’t catch it, the important specs are:
- 2.33 Ghz Core 2 Duo
- 2GB of RAM
- 750GB Hard Disk Drive
- NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
It really is a great computer. The size of it seemed a little daunting at first but it didn’t take long to get used to. My 15″ notebook just looks so small now.
One final point that was noticed when I tested Dashboard and Front Row, this happened:
An interesting bug with Dashboard and Front Row. Pressing F12 just as you hit the Menu button on the Apple Remote ends up with this interesting Dash Row or Front Board - whatever you want to call it. It’s a mixture of the two and locks up Dashboard until you exit Front Row.
I’m sure a few people have already tested that out and found it but it’s the first machine I’ve had that has been able to use Front Row and I’m enjoying every second of it.
That’s all from me on the new computer. I hope you enjoyed the unveiling.
Oh! I usually like to give my computers a name. My 15″ PowerBook was simply “Vicki” because that was the default voice it came shipped with (and I was very impressed with the knock-knock jokes she told). If anyone can think of a decent name for this computer, feel free to leave it as a comment! If you think I’m insane or stupid, you can say that too.

Yah; we need more pics!
Hmm, not good with names. But you’ll need to call it something feminine, like “Stacy” or “Quinn”.
